That which you are about to read is based solely on what we see as rule breaking on Virtual Hogwarts. If you break any of these rules you WILL be punished. Consecutive breaking of rules will result in a ban.

Posting Rules
YOU CANNOT POST UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN SORTED!
Posting rules apply for new threads, replies and personal messages.
You may not post twice in a row, you must edit your previous post.
Your post must consist of more than 10 letters and may not just be a smiley or one word. This is to reduce the risk of spam or 'useless posts'
Your posts may not be repetitive. May of course be within boundaries, but any other will be treated as spam.
Topics and a subject must be related. A subject may not consist of more capital letters than lower case letters. Please keep both relevant.
Posts must be relevant to the subject posted in. Please try and stay on topic.
Please DO NOT post in the Headmasters office, only Arabella is permitted to.
Spam me - Is for spam, spam all you like. Try to stay on topic, but it is not to serious if you don't, just don't abuse it to much.
No locking of topics in spam me.
You are not allowed to post that you are going to leave - we do not want to know. You are not allowed to post that you have returned after leaving - we do not need to know. You may post such things, if you leave on vacation, or similar.
No "flaming" other people. A flame is when you say something insulting directed at another person. This is a friendly place. Please help us keep it that way.
Don't question staff in threads. If a thread you created was locked or deleted, don't make new threads asking about it. If you want to know why it happened, PM a member of staff and we'll happily answer your questions.
Roleplaying Rules
There is absolutely no apparating and disapparation allowed on Virtual Hogwarts.
You are not an animagus unless you have applied to be one at the ministry. Your request will either be accepted or denied and you need at least 300 posts before you apply. Please do not claim to be or RPG that you are, because we are sorry but you aren't.

You have to stay as close to Harry Potter theme as possible, this means no made up spells, no made up creatures, you need to respect members with status (prof or heads) as you will face the consequences. You cannot actually rp die, so please no committing suicide posts!
No horcruxes!
When role-playing, follow the role-play guidelines that have been set up already. It makes everything easier for everyone involved if everyone makes posts the same way. If you disregard the guidelines, you may be warned. Staff does not want to be correcting posts.
No other gangs besides Deatheaters or the Order of the Phoenix are allowed on Virtual Hogwarts, anyone caught breaking these rules with have any privileges revoked immediately.
Profile Rules
PLEASE DO NOT CHOOSE A NAME THAT IS FROM THE HARRY POTTER BOOKS, you will never live up to the true character of that person so don't even try. We have had a few members that have tried and it just caused to much confusion and annoyance! If you have a Hp name, then change it or I will!! This also means that you cannot state that you are Hermione Grangers daughter or son, nor a relation to Sirius Black. We respect JKR and all that she gave us and we believe that you cannot invent a character that she did not create.
No Twilight names. On other sites they have been flooded with them. Please, try and be creative and original.
Try to keep your avatar an acceptable size, but it will be resized, anyway.
Your birthday must be correct, so do not lie about your age. This is to protect you.
Please also be truthful about your gender.
Your user name must not be longer than 10 characters, excluding spaces.
The website which you are allowed to place in your profile must be your own.
No multiple aliases. Your IP address is logged for a reason. If you create multiple accounts, please delete any extra accounts you create. The other option is we'll delete them all. If you want to have separate characters, please get permission from one of the Administrators of the board.
Anime characters are not acceptable as celebrity look-alikes. Nor are celeb look-a-likes from the Harry Potter movies. (Main Characters!)
Signature Rules
Your signature must not contain more than 300 characters.
You may only have one image in your signature which may not be larger than 15 kilobytes.
Please keep your signature short-ish.
An signature image may not be larger than 175 (height) pixels
General Rules
Do not PM the Heads asking questions related to the site. Always first click on the "Help" button, and if you are not satisfied, then you may PM them.
All members place their email addresses on Virtual Hogwarts and we ask you to please respect that and not use their email or send spam to it.
Any rude behaviour on this forum will be dealt with harshly. This includes all other human rights which was agreed upon when you read the TOA when you signed up.
Every user is limited to one account per person, and any breakage of this rule, can or will result in a permanent ban, unless you have gained our permission to acceptional circumstances.
Do not give out passwords to any of the locations on the site that you learn or are given. Only certain people are to have them for a reason.
No spamming/advertising your site through the private messaging system. We have an entire board for you to advertise on and we're more than happy to let you advertise in your signature on the board. Sending PMs with the soul purpose of getting our posters to sign-up at your board is an abuse of your account. If you are caught spamming your board in private messages, you will not be given a warning.
Status rules
Members must respect professors, or people that are of higher status than themselves.
Professors cannot punish other professors. If you have a problem with how a professor is acting, then talk to Arabella. We will punish as we see fit.
The following RPG rules apply:
All RPG posts must be minimum of ONE paragraph. A paragraph must have 5 sentences, at least.
No webspeak. That means that you may not use shortcuts to write your words.
All posts need to have proper grammatical, punctuation and capitalisation usage.
All speech be in QUOTES: " "
Make sure you type your RPG'ing in third person. Example:
Andre walks up to Kailen. He waves at her, and says "Would you like to join me in my walk around the school?".
Keep things real to your character. For example: Act like a student if you are one, and stay appropriate to the age. You can't have all these powers that make you invincible. You are a child, a student please be realistic. Try and stay true to your house. If you are Slytherin many are nasty though you all don't have to be, if you are Hufflepuff you are not known to be brave or strong, just try and keep it real!
No God-modding/taking over other people. You cannot say what other will/won't do.
If you want someone to go along with what you are doing, PM them, and ask them if it is OK.
If you can't contribute to the storyline, then don't post.
Read the entire topic before you post in it. Make sure you know exactly what is going on.
Be CREATIVE!
The following applies upon breaking rules:
If you break a rule, you will be warned, and points (among other things) will be taken from you (and your house).
If you break a rule again, you will be banned for a week.
If you break a rule again after being banned before, you will be banned permanently and/or deleted.
